Eat your fibre

You need to eat a certain amount of fibre per day to keep your digestive system moving along. So grab an apple, pile the veggies on your plate and don't leave out the wholegrains and legumes.

image06

Watch what you eat

An unbalanced diet can harden stools and make them harder to pass. To stop this happening, drink more water, and opt for a juice or herbal tea instead of your usual mid-morning coffee.

When you gotta go, go!

When you feel the need to go to the toilet, don't wait. Holding your stool in can cause it to harden and make it difficult to pass when you do eventually decide to go. So listen to your body and go to the toilet when you need to.

Get moving

Getting your heart rate up for approximately 30 minutes a day can help keep your bowel movements regular. It also decreases your stress levels which can also trigger constipation. So if your stool isn't moving, try a bit of exercise to get things going again.
